We’re back from another incredible mission trip to Ghana. This year’s trip was not only powerful and effective but also a turning point for our projects in that wonderful country. Here are some highlights of what we accomplished this year and a glimpse into our future plans.
This year, our visit to Nyame Bekyere Christian School (NBCS) allowed us to further our support by delivering school supplies, cleaning supplies, soccer balls (or footballs as they’re known locally), printing supplies, wall clocks for all classrooms, puzzles, clothes for the teachers, and treats like cookies, sweets, and drinks for every student!
While talking to the staff about the school’s needs, we found out that a few of our older teachers were having vision issues, leading to headaches. It’s hard to teach children effectively when you can’t see well and suffer from severe headaches. But that’s where the Hayah RISSE Foundation steps in. We bought them reading glasses, and they were immensely grateful.
Our vision at Hayah RISSE has always encompassed supporting more than just one school. We know there’s so much more to be done in Ghana. This year, we visited a few other schools, and it became immediately clear why NBCS is now regarded as one of the best in Ghana. The learning conditions at these other schools were heartbreaking and deplorable. NBCS has achieved a standard that other schools in Ghana can only wish for.
It is now time for us to start serving some of the other schools in Ghana.
My board and I are exploring partnerships with a few new schools. In the coming weeks, we are excited to share details about these schools and our plans to help them rise higher. Despite the challenging conditions, I was deeply moved by the resilience of the teachers and students. The teachers are doing fantastic work with very few resources, and the students are incredible. I look forward to telling you more about them.
For now, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who supported this year’s mission trip and to those who have supported us through the years. We couldn’t accomplish this without your unwavering support. Thank you to all who donated clothes and cleaning supplies. Special thanks to Suddenly Joyful Global Missions and Constantly Overachieving Foundation for your contributions to the school this year. Thank you to my home church, Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church, for your steadfast support. And finally, thank you to everyone who has been praying for us—your prayers mean the world to us.
We’ll have more to share soon. God bless you all.
